Also known as the acetabulofemoral joint, the hip joint is the junction between the pelvis and the femur. Typically, pain arising from the hip joint presents in the groin region. This pain is usually worse with rotation of the hip during activities such as getting in and out of the car and rolling over in bed.Diagnosing hip osteoarthritis is usually done with a simple x-ray. This will demonstrate degree of arthritis and help to guide treatment options. There are a variety of treatment options for hip pain as well.  Some patients may do well with medications such as acetaminophen and anti-inflammatories.  Other patients may require interventions such as intra-articular hip steroid injections. These injections are very effective and are relatively painless. PRP and regenerative therapy injections are also viable options that can be utilized.

Identifying Acetabulofemoral Joint Dysfunction

Groin and Thigh Discomfort
Experiencing deep, aching pain primarily localized in the groin that can often radiate down the front of the thigh toward the knee.
Rotational Agony
Sharp, sudden pains triggered by twisting motions, making simple movements like rolling over in bed a nightly struggle that disrupts sleep.
Mobility Limitations
A noticeable decrease in range of motion, causing profound stiffness when bending down to tie shoes, picking items off the floor, or climbing stairs.
Transitional Catching
A mechanical catching, grinding, or popping sensation when moving from a seated position to standing, especially noticeable when getting in and out of a car.

The hip relies on a robust ball-and-socket mechanism to bear the body's weight. When the protective cartilage wears down or inflammation takes hold in the joint capsule, it disrupts this smooth function, leading to chronic joint distress, bone friction, and restricted movement.

Osteoarthritis Breakdown

The gradual thinning and degradation of protective articular cartilage, ultimately resulting in painful bone-on-bone friction and joint space narrowing.

Radiographic Assessment

Utilizing simple yet highly effective X-ray imaging to visualize structural changes, osteophyte (bone spur) formation, and accurately grade the severity of the arthritis.

Targeted Corticosteroid Delivery

Employing advanced image guidance to deliver potent anti-inflammatory steroids directly into the intra-articular space for rapid, reliable pain relief.

Orthobiologic Healing

Harnessing the body's own natural repair mechanisms through Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and regenerative therapies to actively support the healing of damaged intra-articular tissues.

"I am delighted by the results. I limped into the office in a great deal of pain which I endured for months. After a few weeks of pain management, I was back to my swift walking. My last appointment recommended suggestions for maintenance and coming back if necessary. Great experience and friendly staff!"

Assessing Your Suitability for Advanced Hip Interventions

Individuals experiencing persistent, localized groin pain that measurably worsens with hip rotation or prolonged weight-bearing activities.
Patients whose daily quality of life remains compromised despite attempts at rest, physical therapy, or over-the-counter anti-inflammatory regimens.
Those with a confirmed diagnosis of mild to moderate hip osteoarthritis who are actively seeking viable alternatives to total hip replacement surgery.
Active adults looking for minimally invasive, outpatient procedures that offer rapid pain relief and accelerated recovery timelines.

Expert Tip: Hip pain is notorious for referring pain downward. Never ignore persistent knee or thigh pain if imaging shows a healthy knee joint—the root cause is frequently an arthritic hip radiating pain, which requires a targeted intra-articular evaluation.
